term 4 week 6 – inquiry – food chain

T4 WK 6 20/11/24

WALT: identify different food chains that occur in different environments.

so I’m kind of late to this but as for last week I kind of wasn’t able to finish it and I since I have time to blog this then I will. so like just a little heads up: this might not be so good because I kind of didn’t completely understand what a food chain is but I shall do some research to learn more about it. anyway onto the actual thing. SO , if you don’t know what a food chain is , I cant entirely explain it but I can tell you that in a food chain , there is different living things involved , and in a food chain these are the things involved : producers which are plants , primary consumers which are herbivores ( only eat plants and stuff like that ) , then there is secondary consumers which are carnivores or omnivores . producers are plants , they produce stuff , then primary consumers ( an animal ) eat the plant , then comes in the secondary consumers which eat the animal who ate plant because carnivores and omnivores eat meat. then there is actually a tertiary consumer ( one that eats the secondary consumer ( still an animal though ) and a tertiary consumer is also a carnivore or omnivores , some examples of tertiary consumers are : eagles , sharks and some other animals. after the tertiary consumers , there is actually ONE MORE CONSUMER BRO known as the quaternary consumers and no one really mentions them , some examples are: polar bears , hawks and some other animals , I’m not completely sure if these animals are actually quaternary consumers but that’s what Google told me. Anyway , FINALLY after the quaternary consumers come the decomposers , and the decomposers take any remaining organic stuff from the body of the animal. ( I did search about the consumers even more and there is actually a quinary consumer , a senary consumer and it’s way too much to remember. ANYWAY this is what we had to do: so we had the choice of going on Canva or like slides or something like that and I chose Canva , after we chose where we were going to do it  , we had to create a food chain of our own that include 3 types of consumers ( only up to tertiary consumers ) but they all have to live in the same sort of area  , if you chose Antarctica , you’d have to do animals that live in Antarctica , if you chose the Pacific ocean , you’d have to do animals from their and so on , and we got options of like areas that we could do and I chose the Amazon rain forest , which means I can only do animals and plants from there. and I presented my work on Canva and here is a picture of what it looks like:

anyway hope this is good enough plus I’m not sure if I did the task correctly.  🤓🤓

inquiry – adaptations – term 4 week 6 – second task

WALT: identify animal adaptations and why this occurs.

hello! this week , we got a new inquiry task where we learn about animal adaptations , we watched a video on animal adaptations and the video listed various animals and one adaptation for each. after we watched the video , we had to go onto the inquiry slides and find the animal adaptation slides , then there were 2 tasks we needed to complete . I’ve already blogged my first one so now this is the second task , this task was kind of complicated ( sort of ) but its was fun to do , so what we had to do for this task was either get a piece of paper or like do it on Canva or something like that , then we had to find maybe 3-4 animals we like , then we had to find out one adaptation for each of them ( I chose 3 animals ). after that , we needed to think of an imaginary animal ( and get creative 🤓 ) and like think of an adaptation for it that includes all its needs like eat , defend , movement and like stuff like that and I’m not sure if I did mine completely correct but I tried my best to understand what was going on 🙃 , then after we thought of all that , we needed to draw an animal that is basically a mixture of all animals you said at the start ( the ones you took 1 adaptation from ) ALSO I chose to do mine on paper but it was actual so hard to draw it because I didn’t have any ideas. anyway since I’m only gonna show the drawing , here are the animals I chose and the adaptations I chose :

before that , just a reminder of what we needed to include : food , movement and defense.

leopard: sharp canine teeth and sharp claws – DEFENSE

hamster: paws and sharp teeth – FOOD

fish: fins – MOVEMENT

anyway those are the animals I chose and the reason I chose 3 is because there is 3 things we needed to find adaptations for if you know what I mean ( defense , movement , food ) . the next step for this task is to draw it as I’ve already said 🙂 this part was the hardest even though it should probably be the easiest ( because I didn’t have very many ideas as I’ve already said )  anyway here is what the drawing looks like! 🌷

WALT: make meaning of the text by identifying the main ideas.

this week , we are reading from chapter 16 to the end of chapter 18!

so since I finished my must do’s , I’m doing my create tasks now and on a separate blog because why not. so for this week , we had a bunch of options ( 5 options ) for create tasks but the one that interested me the most right now is: make a word search with 10 words from the book. and here is a picture of the options:

but genuinely I was most interested in the word search one. and what we basically had to do was enter this site through a link then write 10 words from the book then it would make the word search for you. then I tried solving it and I couldn’t find any ( I found it kinda hard to solve 🥲 ) anyway , here is a screen shot of the word search , try and find them! ( if you want 🤓 )

( also the words had to be in the book but also some main words not just like “and” but it has to be main words. ( I think )

so that’s it for my first create task!

WALT: make meaning of the text by identifying the main ideas. 

Hello ( once again ) this is my second create task for the week! so for my first create task ( the one above this one 🤓 ) I chose the word search , and now for my second one I chose : predict what Mr Hazell will think when there are no pheasants at his shooting party. I chose this one because I actually had some ideas in my head and I found it quite easy to do because I remember this chapter pretty well 😝 anyway I did this on another slide in the set of slides 😼 and here Is a picture of the the create task description so you get the idea 😍

anyway that is the full size of the thing so like I can make that any bigger so it might be a bit hard to read.

but anyways what I wrote is just my opinion on what I think will happen but I’m not completely sure , anyway I hope you get what I mean 🤓 anyway bye bye bloggers.

so like , this is my 3rd create task for the week!! and this time I chose this one!

anyway , what I drew was a scrumpdiliumpcious time where I was with Nalinya and Tammy having a sleepover while watching the movie “talk to me” late at night and we were eating lots of stuff.

anyway here is the picture since I don’t have much to say about this create task except for the fact that it was fun to do.

WALT: make meaning of the text by identifying the main ideas

helloo , so for week 6 in reading , we read from chapter 16 to 18 ( we also read the entire chapter 18 ) then , after reading the chapters , we got new must do’s to fill in! and this exact post is my first must do! here is a description of the must do: so basically , our first must do was dictionary detective which we get mostly every week but obviously the words are always different. this week we got the words glints , suspicious , lark and succulent. and we had to insert a new slide and basically explain the meaning of those words. which I have done and am ready to show you!

but before that ( for the teachers basically ): , i’d like to say that its been really hard to read basically 3 chapters in 20 minutes because I’m kind of slow so pls give more time

anyway , back to this. here is a photo of the slideshow where I basically explained the words!

so like for the second must do this week , I figured it’s always the long answer , short answer must do  😭 but this time what we had to answer on the next slide was:

so yes it is the long answer and short answer but of course different stuff to answer😃

and I firstly did the long answer because I forgot the answer to the short answer🤓

inquiry – adaptions – drag & drop

WK 6 T4 18/11/24

for this week , we got a new activity to focus on for inquiry . we had to go into the slides and then press to copy a slide , we got a picture of a penguin with boxes beside it and arrows pointing to places with writing to then place in the boxes. we had to learn about adaptations of different animals , and we also watched a video about different animal adaptations. we learnt about lots of different animals but about the penguins , we learnt about its fur and how it helps them keep warm. and on the slide we basically learnt facts because we had to place them and I just learnt 1-2 things I didn’t know! one of them is: baby penguins sit on their parents feet so they’re not on the ice. anyway here is the picture of the thing we had to do! ( I’m not sure if its correct but its what I thought it was )

anyways , I’m not sure if their all correct but I did my best. and learnt some actual facts as I’ve already said before 😝 but that’s pretty much it for my first task but now I have to do the second one! I’d say this one was quite easy and fun so I hope the next one will be too!! 😻

protecting the waterways create task 1& 2 T3 W9

the WALT for this week is: relate ideas to own experiences and wider world.

so for this week I chose the book “protecting the waterways.”

all the other books seemed very interesting to read but the title and description to this one stuck out to me and I also want to protect the waterways.

( I don’t know if I’ll be able to do create task 3 since I was away some days and my Chromebook was dead other days. 🥲 )

but anyway back to this , for create task 1 we had to do a flowchart , this time there was no other option of a journal story 😼 and we had to include facts from the journal story that we read.

and then for the book I chose there were 3 videos / articles we needed to watch or read , they were all about people protecting rivers and just explaining how much plastic and other items have been going into our rivers.

T3 WK 8 10/9/24

the WALT for the week is: relate ideas to own experiences and wider world.

it’s Tuesday and i only finished my first create task because yesterday , my Chromebook died right in my face.

but i did manage to finish my first create task.

the book i chose for this week is: my dad , the soccer star.

the reason i chose that one is because i like watching soccer and it looked like a great book to read based off the description , i recommend doing that book since it’s quite easy and fun to read.

for create task 1 , we had to do the same create tasks as last week and the week before that and before that. but it’s fine since it’s easier for me and for everyone else!

we had to choose from journal story and flowchart , this time i chose journal story since i knew there was a problem and a solution

here is a summary on the book if you haven’t read it yet!

it starts with a girl telling her dad she put him in soccer practice , she was trying to get him to do some exercise and tried to get him up from the couch. she was successful after some discussing and proving her point , she took her dad to buy some equipment and she was hopeful that he’d be very talented at soccer. but on the other hand , her dad was hesitant and tried making up excuses but she ended up making him train every single day , and so he got more productive. 

that’s my short summary for the book but there are probably some details I’ve missed but it will probably be there in my journal story for create task 1.

there were 3 videos / sites we had to either read or watch. they were about soccer and the rules. and i learned some facts to be honest so those videos were quite helpful.

anyway! here is the master piece!

T3 WK 8 11/9/24

the WALT for today and the rest of the week is: relate ideas to own experience and wider world.

for create task 2 this time I chose identify cause while I was choosing and reading what they meant and stuff I thought “OH MY GOSH” because when I saw it was to create a problem for a Paralympian I thought , you’re paralyzed , you can’t kick the ball. so that’s how I made up the problem and thought of a solution that probably wouldn’t really work you know.

and I did it on Canva like I always do since I’m familiar with it and I know how to work it.

reminder on the book I chose: my dad , the soccer star.

and I genuinely recommend reading that book since it was humorous and interesting for a child to read.

anyway here is the beautiful result since there isn’t much I can talk about since I said most of it in create task 1!

Math number line fractions T3 WK 8 Activity 2

the WALT for math’s this week is: make connections with fractions on a number line.

this week , i did fractions on a number line from 0-10 , today Pat is in a meeting so the people in Pats math class go to Mrs Lee for Math.

we learned that on a ruler or a number line there will be whole and extra decimals like , 1 whole and 2 tenths , the 2 tenths is the decimal of the number line basically , but that is the fraction version.

Mrs lee told us to go to the interactive white board and put in the number line and show where the fractions were , the fractions we had to show on the number line were , 8 and 6 tenths , 4 and 5 tenths , 7 and 7 tenths , 5 and 6 tenths and 2 and 3 tenths , i was able to finish in time and then she told us to blog!

this was quite easy since Pats group had learnt a lot about this already.

sports day – book choices – T3 WK 7 – create tasks!

the WALT for this week is: relate ideas to ow n experiences and wider world.

new week , new book!

for this week , there were different book choices than last week!

the book choices were:

sports day

hooked on hockey

my dad , the soccer star

giving it a shot

teamwork

rugby under wraps.

they all seem like very good books but i went for sports day since the description about it seemed very interesting!

the only bad thing was: after i chose that book and the teacher handed me the book , i realized i’d had already read that once , when reading with the teacher , along with the rest of the Turquoise group in Miss Ludemann’s class.

but i did it anyway , having more experience with the book 😝

so , for create task 1 , it still hasn’t changed since last week. we had to choose from using a journal story or a flowchart.

this time i chose the journal story! that’s because i actually found a problem in the story.

if you haven’t read sports day , you should since it’s a very good short book!

here is an extremely small summary for you!

there was a little girl who woke up knowing that day was sports day and she had to do softball , she thought she was bad and didn’t want to go. she ended up having to go and it was the time of the sport. she was supposed to catch the ball but this other girl from her team went to catch the ball since she thought the little girl wouldn’t . the main girl heard her dead grandpa’s voice and managed to catch the ball since she had hope.

and that’s the summary!

there were 3 sources we needed to go through to learn more about our topic.

we needed to prove we learned at least something through create tasks.

3/9/24

this week for create task 2 we had to choose a box ,  just like last week! so for this task , which is to design a uniform for that sport. it was kind of hard because i couldn’t find the specific clothes I wanted , but i worked it out!

anyway! in case you didn’t know what sport the book sports day was basically focusing on , its Soft Ball , I’ve personally never played that sport and didn’t really know much about it but after reading the book and watching the videos , i finally kind of know what it is. it’s kind of like Base Ball!😝

so , i made a uniform for soft ball! it kind of looks like it could be for Base Ball too, so don’t bully me pwease. 😼

i did this on canva because i find it easier to do stuff on there since its a source i’m familiar with. and it will stay that way for now 😸

the one i ended up choosing is : evaluate i chose this one because i read the story like 2 times and i learned all i needed to from the main character in the story which is Grace.

anyway , i would say it was fun to do and i recommend trying that create task if you haven’t yet.🥲

task board: athlete profile T3 WK 6

29/8/24 T3 WK 6

as you probably know , this week we had a task board since year 6’s have cycle safety! i was one of them but i’m in Kereru so i had cycle safety on Monday and Tuesday only. it is now Thursday!

and there was more than 1 task that we had to complete, the first thing i started was my athlete profile which is what i’m blogging!

these tasks are quite fun to do , some of them were , reading create tasks , vacation thing on math’s and some other stuff!

the task board has no WALT so , no WALT this time!

for the athlete profile , we had to press a link which would take us to some slides and we had to choose a sport and fill in the questions it asked us. some of the questions were like : does New Zealand play that sport and have they won any medals or what are some famous people who play. there were more questions but that was just 2 that i mentioned , and we had to make a uniform for the sport we chose and i chose Archery but i didn’t want to draw it or make it in shapes so i got a picture from google.

and we had to type what we would eat if we played that sport , we had to write what we would eat for breakfast , lunch , dinner and snacks, and yesterday i finished filling it out!
